I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4. The car is leaking - Answered by a verified Jeep MechanicHello Michael, Sorry about the delayed response, was away for a bit.. With your description of where the coolant is coming out, I suspect a leaking heater core.. Although it is wierd that you don't smell coolant inside. By chance do you notice a cloudy film that stays on the windshield? If so, that would support my theory about the heater core.. The reason that I suspect that is because the A/C and heater box drain is located INSIDE the right side frame rail. The coolant can actually drip out any holes that it can come out through like you described.. and as long as the drain is not plugged, you will not see any coolant inside the vehicle.. Give me a bit to round up some info that supports my answer, I will be with you shortly.. If you need additional information, don't hesitate to ask. If I have answered your question, Please "Rate" my service, it is greatly appreciated. Thank you and thanks for asking your question! RobertHi Michael, Here is a pic of the Floorboard drain hole with the Heater Box removed. It leads into the frame rail..Yes it is definitely possible to have a heater core leak without getting the carpets wet. Like I stated above, as long as the drain unit is not plugged with debris, there will be no coolant inside the vehicle due to the fact that the drain is doing its job of draining the liquid out of the heater box, because the drain tube is positioned inside the frame rail, it will leak out the frame holes like you described... If the drain tube was plugged with debris, the coolant will not drain to the outside and only in this instance will coolant end up wetting the carpet.. If you need additional information, don't hesitate to ask. RobertHello, welcome and thanks for asking your question. My name isXXXXX am a Certified Auto Technician with 26+ years experience.
